I set up a BPD support group

In April 2026, I was drunk and alone. I had an idea which I never expected to materialise into what it is today. Why not create a support group for those who suffer with BPD?

The group started with just myself and my ex-boyfriend, until I posted on Reddit and someone joined! Before I knew it, there were a bunch of people in there conversing between themselves.

They were sharing personal struggles and finding peace from relating to others. Everytime someone joined with a different country code on their phone number, I looked up where they were from and realised the group was expanding globally!

Today, there are 104 members from 20+ countries. There is a group specifically for support and ranting, a general chitchat group, one for sharing pet pictures, one for sharing small wins, an accountability group and one for sharing helpful resources.

Being the owner of a community like this has come with many difficulties. There have been several situations where I’ve needed to try and intervene or set boundaries and rules to protect people. I’ve had to remove members or talk to members separately about their behaviour.

Luckily, I managed to recruit two very wonderful people who help with admin duties. This took the pressure off me from needing to monitor the group at all times.

I’m writing this post today because I feel proud of what this support group has become. Today, people have been getting help and motivation to get things done, speaking to each other respectfully and relating to one another on things. It feels like I’ve created a space where people can just be.. them.

If you suffer with BPD and are looking for a supportive community, please DM me on Instagram @thrive_together_mh. Come and join a friendly environment where you can get things off your chest with no judgement.
